We’ve all been exposed to betrayal from a loved one. It’s interesting how we process it.
We experience an event, we think we’re being dismissed and we interpret the incident a certain way……
This leads to the feeling of betrayal. It feels terrible. We’re left feeling lonely and less worthy. We may even expand on the incident and make ourselves more upset.
It’s crazy how our thoughts get to rolling, always on the negative side.
Unless….
Unless we manage our brain. Imagine if you only look at the facts and see them from both point of views. Remove all emotion and see if you could interpret the incident from a neutral perspective.
Maybe, what you think is betrayal, is the others struggles, incapability or unawareness.
Nobody can feel your emotions except for you. And, they can’t make you feel anything unless you allow it.
Give yourself time before deciding how you really feel when you’re upset. I personally like 3 days. After 3 days I can feel my emotions shift, I’m a little more balanced. At the 3 day mark, I like to imagine where the other person may be coming from and see if I can offer compassion.
We’re all here having a human experience and none of us are perfect. The more we can learn and grow, the better experience we can create.
Live your best life!
